MTPak Coffee Launches its Circular Economy Grant

MTPak Coffee Launches its Circular Economy Grant

Are you a coffee roaster or coffee shop committed to reducing your environmental impact? We think you should be rewarded for it.

Since launching in 2016, MTPak Coffee has been driven by a mission to promote a circular economy and create a more sustainable supply chain, from seed to cup.

That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of The Circular Economy Grant: a scheme designed to recognise small, independent coffee roasters and coffee shops that are using their business as a force for good.

Whether powering your roastery using solar panels, delivering your coffee exclusively by bicycle, planting trees to offset carbon emissions, or encouraging customers to return their coffee cups for recycling, we want to hear about it.

MTPak Coffee invites applicants to share how their efforts are making the coffee industry more sustainable and promoting a circular economy.

A panel of judges will pick a winner who will receive either:

  • $5,000 USD to continue building their business and setting an example for the coffee industry
  • Or $15,000 in credit that can be redeemed on MTPak Coffee packaging and cups.

What is The Circular Economy Grant?

The Circular Economy Grant is a scheme that rewards one coffee roaster or coffee shop with $5,000 for their sustainability efforts. Alternatively, they can choose $15,000 in credit to spend exclusively on MTPak Coffee products, including coffee bags and cups.

Promoting a circular economy is at the heart of MTPak Coffee. It is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.

It does away with the take-make-waste approach and replaces it with a more long-term, sustainable outlook that benefits the planet, now and in the future.

What are the criteria for The Circular Economy Grant?

To apply to The Circular Economy Grant, you must fulfil the following requirements:

  • You own a coffee roastery or coffee shop
  • You have been in business for a minimum of 12 months
  • You are making concerted efforts to minimise your environmental impact and contribute to a circular economy.
  • Your efforts have had a clear and measurable impact

Applications are open until July 1st, 2023. Apply here.
