The Barista League Announces the Final Speakers Line Up and Schedule for the Third Iteration of High Density – ‘Not Just Origin’

High Density Conference Returns November with 'Not Just Origin' ThemeDaily Coffee News by Roast Magazine

Premiering this 16th of November, High Density – the coffee conference for all coffee people – will mark its third consecutive year with a program of 21 speakers from across the globe sharing their unique perspective on this year’s theme ‘Not Just Origin’.

High Density is a totally free, digital coffee conference streaming live on YouTube on the 16th of November. This year, the program features 21 speakers in a program curated by High Density 2023 Creative Producer Ana Luiza Pellicer to showcase the brightest leaders and game-changing ideas in specialty coffee right now.

The full line-up includes keynote speakers, Morgan Eckroth of Onyx Coffee Roasters (USA), Mario Fernández of the SCA (Mexico), Mikael Jassin of CATUR Coffee Company (Indonesia), Sabine Parrish of Centre for Food Policy, University of London (UK), Karl Wienhold of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), Sara Morrocchi of Vuna Origin Consulting (Italy), Lucia Solis of Luxia Coffee (Guatemala), and Smayah Uwajenza of Elevate Through Coffee Initiative (Rwanda), as well as speakers Agustín Quiroga (Argentina), Mike Strumpf (Canada), Enrique Alves (Brazil), Young Baek (Australia), Lem Butler (USA), Phil Magowan (United Kingdom), Xavier Alexander (USA), Mikolaj Pociecha (Netherlands), Catalina Gutierrez (Colombia), Verônica Belchior (Brazil), Anthony Ragler (USA), Rahul Reddy (India), Nathanael Philip May (USA), Julia Leach (USA) and Binny Varghese (India)..

The theme of High Density 2023 – NOT JUST ORIGIN – has been carefully curated to celebrate the unique cultures, challenges, expertise and people that get ignored when we lump so many things into one box, defined by the production of one crop. This theme will be explored throughout the program with session titles such as ‘Power asymmetry in the coffee chain: sources, manifestations, and remedies’ (Karl Wienhold), ‘Kenya coffee and the British Empire: behind a broken value chain’ (Philip Magowan) and ‘Who gets to claim terroir? A cautionary tale from France’ (Lucia Solis).

The conference is set to go live on 16th of November at 15:00 CET (10:00am Eastern US Time) and the full schedule is now available to view online on the High Density website. Registration is totally free and will automatically add you into the draw to win some cool prizes from some of this year’s High Density official partners, plus allow you to stay up-to-date with all the news and updates as they happen.

The full program will be offered with multiple language subtitles and released for free on YouTube. As with previous years, proceeds from High Density – collected through an optional donation – will benefit Grounds for Health, a non-profit organization focused on providing cervical cancer prevention in coffee-producing countries.

High Density is proudly supported by Oatly, Pacific Foods, Poursteady, Barista Magazine, Coffee People Zine, Daily Coffee News & Perfect Daily Grind.
