Brewing Sustainability at Festivals
through Coffee Consciousness
T he hum of espressos machines against the grinding of beans. The
drifting scent of coffee filling the venue. Clusters of coffee folks
sharing their latest coffee finds. The spark of community forming
around shared interests. These are the elements of the Nordic Coffee
and Dublin Coffee festivals- cozy spaces filled to the brim with creativity and
bountiful coffee options. Coffee festivals are a fun way to showcase the diver-
sity of the industry and build collective interest, collective enthusiasm, col-
lective activism. Ordna Event Agency, the same group of folks who run The
Barista League, and Cup North, are the two organizations that hosted the
Nordic Coffee Festival (NCF) and Dublin Coffee Festival (DCF) events in March
2024, respectively. They infused the atmosphere with all flavors of enthusiasm
and community, with an extra shot of sustainability. 47
